Cross-Country Run

On the 22 of the 8 Pt England school had a cross-country run,we all had our own houses that were named my house was Takitemu (yellow) this house is named after a boat.We all had to wait for our turns
to run because we had to do it from juniors to senior the year 5 to 8's had to run two laps starting from our school fields.

It was time that we had to step we had to line up for cross-country as we lined up to get ready for our run our principle Mr Burt talks to us about where were running our principle say's on you mark so when you put two together get set is when you put one foot back then he said go and off we go for our 3.5 k run.

As I was running in the start my was pumping like a cheetah running as fast as it could my legs felt lazy because I had been sitting down to long I was running the cross country run I could feel my back clicking as I was running so I had to run a little bit slower because my was pain.My goal yesterday was try running none stopping,as the race finished I felt like sleeping.

I felt very happy that I ran none stopping I would like to say a big thank you to the Tamaki college Service academy for helping our school on the cross-day.

Cross-Country Training

During the last few weeks our senior block has been training for our cross country that coming up very soon, but the cool thing about our training's is that the teachers record your time that you get then you have to try beating your first record when your run the next day.

My favourite part about training is that we get to run with our friends and talk, the reason why I like running it because i wan't to stay fit healthy and be able to play all the sports that you want to play.

My goal for the cross country is try to running with out stoping if I make my goal come true then I will be very pleased with my self.

Harold W.O.F

During the last two days room 19 has been going to Lyn in the life education caravan,we learn about thing that are very important for us humans to do.What I didn't know was that cars are just like us except we need water, oxygen and food but a car need's fuel to be able to move anywhere.

One of my favourite words that I liked was carbohydrates because that was one of the word's that we were learning about, what I had learn't that simple carbohydrates are sugars such as fructose (from friuts),sucrose (from white sugar),lactose(from milk) and maltose (from malt)complex carbs are chains made up of simple sugars.

Simple carbohydrates go through the digestive system faster than the complex because they don't need to be broken down so much. That means that complex carbohydrates are far better for longer lasting energy, they move through slowly so are realeased into the blood more slowly.

My other word that I liked was Fats because I've been learning it last term and also with Lyn.Fat is a source of energy for the body but as it contains twice as many kilojoules as carbohydrates we don't need to much of it in our diets.
There are three types of fat:

1.Saturated            -animal fats (usually solid at room temperature)
2.Monounsaturated      -olive,canola and peanut oil
3.Polyunsaturated      -sunflower,corn and soyabean oils

Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are usually liquid at room temperature and are the better health choice...just remember though, all fats contain the same amount of kilojoules so go for the low fat options when you have a choice.
